subject: Building A Perfect Kitchen One Piece At A Time [print this page]

The kitchen is the most important room in any house - the heartbeat of the family home. And because you spend so much of your time in the kitchen, it makes sense to make it as nice an environment as possible. That doesn't necessarily mean that you have to have a full kitchen makeover. It would be nice, of course, but it's also going to cost you a few dollars. But there is a way to give your kitchen a new lease of life without having to empty your bank account.

New kitchen appliances and utensils can give your kitchen a facelift for a fraction of the price. They also have the added bonus of being practical too. A stylish blender or Kitchenaid will add a flourish of elegant design and make baking that little bit easier. A Nespresso coffee machine will make getting your morning shot in the arm easy. Just insert the capsule and you've got a perfect cup of coffee, every time. Great news if you don't operate at your best in the morning.

Even some new kitchenware, like a set of pans or some new cutlery can catch the eye and improve the feel of your kitchen. And wouldn't it be nice to have everything matching for a change and not have to make do with all the odds and ends from other sets?

You might even want to think about replacing some of your larger kitchen appliances. State of the art fridges, cookers and dishwashers are not just efficient but have also been designed with style in mind. An American-style fridge/freezer will be a style statement as well as a more than adequate cooling unit for all the family's food. They can even be plumbed in to provide fresh chilled water and ice - perfect for hot days and parties.

There's an almost limitless range of kitchen appliances made by some really great brands. From kitchen staples like microwaves and coffee grinders, to more niche and specialist products like pizza ovens and ice cream makers. Whatever you can imagine making in the kitchen, there is a stylish appliance to help you do it. You could even pick a colour and try and coordinate all your appliances. You can usually find most appliances and utensils in a range of colours. It will be a real stand out feature for any kitchen.

From wine racks to baking dishes, all your kitchen implements can be part of an overall style concept. So why hide them away in the cupboards when you can display them with pride? When function has been teamed with style so well, it seems a shame to not appreciate it on a daily basis. Besides, a truly great kitchen should be used and appreciated in equal measure. Everything from glassware to cookware to crockery should have a form and a function that you love. So why spend all that money on new kitchen cupboards when you can build it yourself, piece by piece?
