subject: A Masculine View Of Lingerie [print this page]

A males perspective on lingerie is a double standard when compared to his stance on his own underwear. Men think that they do not need nice underwear, but that their girlfriend does. In fact, most mens perception of ladies intimates is lace and silk. There are no laundry days in their world. There are no days where the holeyest of the holey must be worn because there has been no time for laundry.

For every lucky guy that has a girlfriend whose drawers contain only silk and lace lingerie, a pig gets its wings. The necessity of having lazy day or emergency underwear does not dawn on most men: as long as they have a pair (no pun intended), there is no problem. Then again, most men do not pay more than a handful of dollars for every pair of underwear. Women may pay hundreds, or even thousands, for a nice set of lingerie. That alone makes a necessity of cheap underwear. Also, the fact that some days require nothing but a pair of sweatpants and a sweater helps to rationalize keeping old pairs.

Lingerie is like deodorant: you can relax because that aspect is taken care of. Even if an emergency were to happen, ambulance and all, you can relax and know that the paramedics will compliment you on the fashionable lingerie. It is also a confidence booster: knowing that you look fine on the outside, inside, and underneath your clothes.

There is an unmistakable carriage of a woman wearing lingerie: it is seen all the time at nightclubs where the servers are required to wear it as their uniform. Confidence is the biggest part of it, but it is also how a woman will know to make a guy work harder to get her attention. After all, he gets to see the intimates, he could bloody well strike up some interesting conversation and get to know her. This is only a specific situation, but it stands that if a woman goes out of her way to wear lingerie, then a guy should go out of his way for the privilege of seeing it.

When swine soar is a bad analogy for the amount of women who have complete lace or silk lingerie collections. There are certain to be plenty: after all, what does Lady Gaga and Princess Kate spend their money on? But not everyone is royalty of stage or marriage. If pigs flew every time a woman disposed of her last pair of lazy day lingerie, there would be a new delicacy on the menu of many fancy restaurants.

For everyone else who does not have a bank account that never reaches below the triple digit mark, lingerie is a special occasion, going out with the ladies or the boyfriend, having fun and being comfortably sexy doing it, clothing accessory. Feminists would agree: lingerie is fun and sexy. Its only a human trait to want to look ones best! It certainly is not necessary for procreation or survival, but it certainly feels and looks good.
