subject: Main Reasons Of Alcohol Dependency [print this page]

Liquor or alcoholic drinks can be very addicting if drank on a regular basis. Should an individual consume liquor every day chances are they would develop a dependency for it immediately. Being addicted to alcohol may cause several negative effects such as liver damage or mental disorders. Long term side effects can cause an individual to suffer from mental disorders like depressive disorders and hallucinations. The best way to avoid having an addiction for alcohol is to drink moderately or simply drink small quantities of liquor. This is called social drinking in which a person drinks only tiny to little amounts of alcohol once in a while.

Liquor is a substance used by many in an effort to relax and de-stress. Some people use it as a way to relax after a long day at work. Yet there are other people who would use alcohol as a way to escape from their problems. Consuming alcohol to feel much better from certain troubles and dilemmas is the initial stage to alcohol addiction. People would consume vast amounts of liquor to briefly forget about their problems but their tolerance would certainly increase every time. By doing this they have already developed an addiction for it causing people to crave for liquor even more.

There are alcohol rehab centers and rehabilitation centers that cure alcoholism. They have an effective treatment plan which is efficient enough to cure any type of alcohol addiction. Although other alcohol treatment centers also have a treatment plan they simply limit their treatment for a certain type of dependency.

Another reason why alcohol is addictive because after a person drinks it triggers a discharge of dopamine making a person feel good immediately. It also causes a person to produce more endorphins thus making them numb to physical or psychological pain while intoxicated. However a person who drinks regularly will most likely crave more alcohol for their brains to produce more endorphins.

Studies show that alcohol addiction may be genetic meaning if a person's parents are alcohol dependent it means that their child would likely become an alcoholic themselves. However there are other people who simply develop an alcohol addiction because of their environment. Their social status or their financial status may cause a person to be addicted to alcohol. A more common reason for having an alcoholism is being problematic or depressed; but alcohol only makes a person's depressive state far worse. Often it even causes a person to develop severe mental disorders if not treated immediately.
