subject: Buying Digital Camera And Its Accessories [print this page]

Many time a point and shoot digital camera makes you feel a little wanting on the capability front. Most of them come with certain shortcomings that only a dslr camera can fulfill; take for example a situation where you want to capture a fast moving object in low light or a night time long exposure shot. All these things are not possible with common point and shoot digital cameras. However thanks to a plethora of accessories, point and shoot digital cameras can compete with dslr cameras, if not in all the departments than at least in a few that can still give you picture quality that is acceptable. Lets have a look at a few of these accessories that enable your digital camera compete well with even the best dslr camera out there.

External Flash: Lets accept it. Brands can only fit in so much in a small camera. You cannot expect the flash to compete with the ones on bigger cameras. It is where an external flash can help you confront difficult photographic situations and capture professional looking photos with much ease.

Reflectors: Photography is as much about the equipment as it is about capturing light. With a good reflector, which is fairly inexpensive, you can build some drama in every photograph.

Tripod: This is a must have for any photo enthusiast. A photographer comes across situations where the need for a stable camera is urgent. This is where a tripod really delivers, more so if you plan to capture long exposure shots.

Hand bands, shoulder straps: Its a must when you are travelling and dont want to worry much about holding the cam all the time. Just throw a hand band around your hand or a shoulder strap around your shoulders and you are good to go.

Extra batteries: When you get into the shooting mode, batteries should be the least of worry. Therefore always deck up the battery supply and carry more than one to not stop midway.

While the above holds good for a digital camera, you may want to consider some other accessories such as polarizers, UV filters, extra lenses, interval-ometers in case you own a dslr camera. With them by your side, you would surely capture photographs that would rival professional photographers.
