A perfect reunion is a lot of time, commitment and perseverance by the volunteers and planning committee that take the time to make this a special event for not only them, but everyone else as well. Class officers and any other classmates you have contact with make the perfect building block to starting on the right path. Choose someone to oversee the handling of funds, a classmate that is an accountant may be a good choice as they have monetary budget skills. A chairman is also a good choice to help delegate tasks and perform important tasks.
Activities with a Budget
Even with a tight budget, a class reunion can be fun, social event that everyone will remember for years to come. Decide on catering services, music, invitations and location, within a reasonable limit, and begin laying everything out.
Create a slide show, or scrapbook to highlight past events. Hold a mini awards ceremony like the ones they have in senior year. Ask classmates to bring something that reminds them of fond school memories. Play music that was at your high school prom or homecoming. Provide an area to dance and mingle so classmates can relax and have a great time.
Finding old Classmates
In the years between high school and your reunion, many of your classmates have moved, gotten married or other circumstances. Begin locating attempts as soon as you begin planning your budget. Check if your school has any updated information. Go online to sites like Facebook, My yearbook, or other popular social media sites.
You can send out an email to anyone you have located already to find out if they have contact information for anyone still needing to be located. Speak with alumnus from other classes, as they may be family to a classmate and able to provide current information.
Get the word out
Once you have everything in the works, get your invitations out and start on reservation notices. Classmates may not live nearby and need time to travel to the location selected. For those with children or busy work schedules, an advance notice is helpful for them to make arrangements. No one wants to miss out on their high school reunion. Especially not one that is guaranteed to be a great night for catching up with old friends.
