In the realm of contemporary blues music, Bonnie Raitt stands as one of the industry's leading talents. With a career stretching all the way back to 1971, the singer and slide guitarist has demonstrated an uncanny ability to adapt to the ever-shifting nature of the music industry while delivering a prolific output of well-received recordings. This year, Raitt released her sixteenth studio album, Slipstream, which has already been drawing favorable reviews. Currently, the musician is touring to support the record, with Bonnie Raitt tickets continuing to sell well.

ABOUT BONNIE RAITT

Bonnie Raitt was born in Burbank, California in the year 1949. The daughter of a pianist and a Broadway star, it was only natural that Bonnie Raitt would take to music at a young age. In fact, she began playing guitar when she was just twelve, immediately developing an affinity for the blues genre.

Bonnie Raitt has released sixteen studio albums since 1971, including 1989's five-time platinum Nick of Time and 1991's seven-time platinum Luck of the Draw. Her music has also resulted in nine Grammy Awards to date.

ABOUT SLIPSTREAM

In April, Bonnie Raitt released Slipstream on Redwing Records. Featuring a dozen tracks spanning just under an hour, Slipstream was recorded over the past couple of years at both Ocean Way Recording and The Garfield House recording studio.

The record features Bonnie Raitt performing original tracks alongside some well-chosen covers. These include a reggae-tinged cover of Gerry Rafferty's "Right Down the Line," as well as two Bob Dylan covers, "Million Miles" and "Standing in the Doorway."

Thus far, critical response to Slipstream has been uniformly positive. American Songwriter Magazine even went so far as to call it one of the best in Raitt's four-decade career.

THE SLIPSTREAM TOUR

To support her new release, Bonnie Raitt is embarking on a wide-ranging tour. This will start off in Canada, with performances planned in the cities of Vancouver and Calgary, but will quickly move into the United States. In the US, Raitt will be hitting venues in Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

Also of note is the fact that Bonnie Raitt will be performing at this year's Edmonton Folk Music Festival. Held at Alberta's Gallagher Park from August 9 to August 12, the event will also feature performances from music superstars Emmylou Harris, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Mavis Staples and Arrested Development.

Mixing crowd-pleasing melodies with her heartfelt lyrics, Bonnie Raitt has been known to entertain concertgoers of all ages, races and genders. Her set list mixes new songs with her classic singles, and even includes covers of musicians she admires. Supported by guitarist George Marinelli, bassist James Hutchinson, drummer Ricky Fataar and keyboardist Mike Finnigan, the singer's current voice sounds as fresh as ever. Still proudly displaying her skunk-striped red mane, Raitt chats with the audience in between songs and appears genuinely happy to be performing night after night.

With her commitment to touring and recording quality music, Bonnie Raitt continues to gain new fans, while still managing to please critics.
