Copenhagen in Denmark is one of Europe's oldest capitals and home to the nation's parliament, government, and monarchy. It is a city suited for tourists and easy to explore. It is the nation's largest city with a population of over 1 million. It is also the cultural center for the country featuring art, music, theater and design. It is also known as a 24 hour party city for those looking for a swinging time.

Shopping The inner city has lots of exiting and creative handcrafters and designers

with small ateliers. One of the things that make Copenhagen so attractive for shoppers is that you can do the whole thing by foot. Be sure you visit the pedestrian shopping street Strget and Kbmagergade with several small boutiques and the malls as Illum and Magasin. You can wander for hours and still find the shopping exciting.

You find shopping malls in the heart of the city as in the outskirts of Copenhagen. In the shopping malls you find exclusive boutiques as well as chain shops represented all over Denmark.

The cultural centre

Copenhagen is the cultural centre of Denmark. Attractions and exhibitions can be seen at for instance New Carlsberg Glyptotek, National Museum of Fine Art, Danish Design Centre, Arken and Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. The city offers experiences for every taste in art, music, theater or design and presents a broad range of cultural activities all year around.

Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

The relaxing atmosphere, the museum's permanent collection, changing exhibitions of art, films, concerts, the children's wing, the caf service indoors and outdoors, the museum shop with its large selection of books, art reproductions, graphics, posters, postcards, design and classical CDs - all combine make Louisiana a pleasure to visit.

Karen Blixen Museum

Visit the former home of internationally renowned writer Karen Blixen aka Isaak Dinesen. The Karen Blixen Museum is located directly by the resund Sound in Rungstedlund, an enchanting park and bird sanctuary north of Copenhagen.

Christiansborg Palace

Christiansborg Palace houses the Danish Parliament, Supreme Court, and Ministry of State. It is also used by the Royal Family for various functions and events. This is where foreign ambassadors and heads of states are welcomed by the Prime Minister and the Queen. The Great Hall contains the Queen's tapestry series, which depict 1000 years of Danish history.

Tivoli Gardens

The gates to the famous old Tivoli Gardens, an enchanted world of beautiful tree-lined pathways, theatres, open air stages, restaurants, cafs, and attractions ranging from monstrous rides, that will twirl and spin you around, to gentle children's rides. The gardens display a wealth of flowers, and at night thousands of lights sparkle from the trees. Open since 1843, Tivoli is one of the world's oldest amusement parks and a must when you visit Copenhagen.

Round Tower

The Round Tower is the oldest functioning observatory in Europe, and stars have been watched here since 1642. The observatory is encircled by an outdoor platform from which you have a magnificent view of the old part of Copenhagen. To get there you need to walk up the spiral walk close to the core of the building.

Visit Louisiana, Arken and Glyptotek - all on the top among art museums in Europe; take a walk towards the Gefion Fountain, Copenhagen's own Fontana di Trevi, and see how the Little Mermaid is doing...! Tivoli, the amusement park with class and charm, right in the middle of the city, is a "must", too.
