subject: Roger Waters Tickets - Founding Pink Floyd Member Rocks The Wall Tour [print this page]

In the world of progressive rock music, Roger Waters stands as one of the genre's most prolific and popular artists. Both as a member of Pink Floyd and as a solo musician, Waters has been crafting quality tunes for over four decades. His discography includes seventeen studio albums, with Pink Floyd's double CD The Wall enduring as one of his proudest achievements. Not only was the record adapted into a feature film written by Waters, but the musician has often replicated the record at live shows in its entirety. Currently, the artist is on another Wall Tour, with Roger Waters tickets still proving popular amongst consumers.

ABOUT ROGER WATERS

Roger Waters was born in England in 1943. He helped to form the group that would become Pink Floyd in 1963, with Syd Barrett brought in as the front man. After Barrett left the group in 1968, Waters became the group's lead singer and songwriter.

With Waters as the group's leader, Pink Floyd released Dark Side of the Moon, which went on to become one of the most successful rock albums of all time. After leaving Pink Floyd, Waters embarked on a solo career, which has thus far resulted in three studio albums and a movie soundtrack.

ABOUT THE WALL

Released in 1979, The Wall is Pink Floyd's eleventh studio album. Written and composed primarily by Roger Waters, the concept album tackles issues of isolation and abandonment over the span of its eighty-minute running time.

The album is built around the experiences of a man named Pink. From the loss of his father during World War II to the dissolution of his marriage and eventual self-imposed isolation, the listener is irresistibly drawn into Pink's bleak and beautiful world.

The success of The Wall led Waters to team up with director Alan Parker to create a theatrical film based on the album. In 1982, Pink Floyd - The Wall was released with Bob Geldof in the starring role. An experimental piece of cinema, the live-action/animation hybrid baffled many critics upon its release, but has since gone on to become a cult classic.

THE WALL TOUR

All these years later, The Wall stands as one of Roger Waters' greatest and most personal achievements. For this reason, he consistently brings the Wall experience to fans across the globe. Not only does he play the entire album at these concerts, but he also treats fans to a technologically complex bit of theater in the process. With enormous marionette puppets, fireworks explosions, 3D effects and videos accompanying the music, concertgoers are treated to a live show unlike any other. A white wall is built on stage over the course of the performance, brick by brick, until it eclipses the band entirely.

Currently, Rogers is bringing The Wall Tour to locations across the United States. Upcoming shows are planned in the states of Pennsylvania, New York, North Carolina and Washington, and the musician will also be appearing at Quebec's Plains of Abraham venue in July.

For Roger Waters fans young and old, The Wall Tour represents one of the most memorable experiences a concertgoer will encounter.
