The Houston Rockets are actively trying to put together a package to acquire Howard, but it's unknown if Howard would be willing to sign a long-term contract with Houston. It's been rumored that Howard is only willing to discuss a trade to the New Jersey Nets, Dallas Mavericks, both teams where he'd be willing to sign long-term.
2) Pau Gasol - Los Angeles Lakers:
The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly very interested in trading for Pau Gasol. Earlier in the 2011-2012 NBA season, the Wolves made several attempts to trade for Pau Gasol, and it's looking like the Wolves' pursuit of the big man is going to continue into this offseason. When the Wolves reportedly offered Derrick Williams to the Charlotte Bobcats for their #2 pick in the draft, it was seen as part of a larger move in order to acquire Gasol. It didn't go down, but the Wolves are going to keep trying to acquire Gasol, pairing him with fellow Spaniard Ricky Rubio this upcoming season.
3) Luol Deng - Chicago Bulls:
The Chicago Bulls' Deng is another player where trade rumors continue to come up around him. It's believed that if the Bulls decide to move Deng, they will be doing so in order to cut salary, instead of taking on bad contracts. The Kings, Raptors, and Cavaliers are three teams that have the cap space and lottery picks to be able to take on Deng's contract. The Bulls could acquire a Top 10 pick and get money off the books if they work out a deal with any of the three teams. Of course, there's just as much of a chance that the Bulls decide to keep their All-Star forward in the end.
4) Andre Iguodala - Philadelphia 76ers:
There have been talks that the Sixers have put Iguodala on the trading block in an attempt to move up from the #15 pick. Possible targets for Iguodala are the Wizards or Bobcats with the Sixers interested in players like Bradley Beal, Andrew Drummond, or Thomas Robinson.
5) Rajon Rondo - Boston Celtics:
Rondo's name has been bounced around in trade rumors before Chris Paul was traded to the Clippers, and the talks continue. Boston seems to be hesitant in rebuilding around Rondo, especially with the rest of their roster up there in age. The Celtics would consider proposals carefully if they were able to land an impact player in exchange for Rajon Rondo, though they'll have to get a lot in return after Rondo has consistently proved to be a big-time playoff performer.
