21 Blackstreet: The new Digital platform for African-American literature

The new digital age is redefining how the entire world operates. Newspapers are being replaced by the web, at an alarming rate. It's so much easier to access the news online and scan what is going on in the world. A reader doesn't even have to carry around that annoying newspaper under his arm anymore. It can all be accessed by the click of a screen or button. Now, African-American literature has been given a new digital home: 21 Blackstreet.

21 Blackstreet allows an author, expert or novice to receive the same exposure as a writer with a traditional publisher. Actually, a writer who publishes with 21 Blackstreet will earn a lot more money than any other writer out there. 21 Blackstreet promises their authors (in a signed agreement) that they will receive 70% of their profits. This is unheard of in the publishing world, but up until a couple of years so was the term: ebook. Authors only have to submit an edited manuscript and a book cover to get the process started.

The company is also offering amazing promotion of their authors as well. New authors will be showcased right along with other well known authors. This will ensure that their material will be marketed to an African-American audience, that is thirsty for African-American literature. For Americans overall, the most significant area of gains, however, has been in eBooks. The AAP announced that year-to-date eBook sales for October were over $130 million -- a 180.7% increase from 2008. eBook sales now account for 3% of total trade sales, up from 1.13% last year.
