subject: Golf Tips For Beginners? You Bet! Golf Tips For Beginners-plus! [print this page]

When getting started in golf it may seem like a slightly intimidating game. This can be because of the lingo, the golfing clubs and also some of the many "golf rules" (not to mention just flat out "having to learn the actual game of golf itself!").

For example, when it comes to acquiring a golfing club, the most important thing is to acquire a club that allows you to develop your imperfect skills with minimal expense. The "rules" are that you are allowed to carry up to as many as fourteen clubs in your golfing bag. However, as a beginning golfer you will definitely NOT want to start out with that many clubs!

A good place for a beginning golfer to start with is by acquiring a :

-sand wedge

-driver

-putter

-8 iron

- 6 iron

and

-a pitching wedge.

You can request for and find these beginning golf clubs from any local golf store or outlet.

Now, along these lines of trying out new golf clubs (before purchasing them) is to ensure that you try and see how they both feel in your hands and how they feel as you grip them solidly and "swing them around a little".

If the club, after passing these practice exercises 'feels right'-and the "price is right"- then go ahead and buy it.

After acquiring the basic equipment (clubs, comfortable clothing, comfortable 'beginning shoes', etc.) the next thing that should be taken into consideration is whether or not one should look for and find actual golfing lessons, of some sort. There are many ways and avenues to take up and learn the art of golfing and each person will have to seek out and find the avenue that suits them, individually, the best. Some folks are able to learn a lot about golf and the game of golf by simple online golf instruction-where golf videos, tutorials, golf instruction, golf tips and the like are readily available.

For others, it may be advisable to enroll in a golfing school at your local golf club or golf course. In this vein of "seeking the services of a local golf professional" of some sort, you will need to be prepared to pay some range of an hourly rate, in most situations. The rate charged can, will and SHOULD vary widely-depending on the experience of the golfing instructor you are hiring!

Last, as far as just "general tips to remember, when "just starting out in the game of golf" are the following two tips:

-When starting out on your swings try and resist the temptation (at first) to swing for maximum distance. You should purposefully start out with hitting small swings or short irons and really get the basics of the game down, first. Increasing your distance and the power of your swing will occur much easier if you learn the basics (stance, swing, posture, follow thru, etc) with time.

This will help you to warm up and "train up" your golf muscles (over time, once again) and also prevent you from trying to "go to far, to fast", in the game of golf. Going at it in this manner can easily cause the beginning golfer to alleviate some of the common frustration that other golfers experience by NOT going at the game in graduated steps . . .

-The other ideal thing is for you to learn, when starting out in the game of golf, is to simply practice (over and over) the short shots. This can be done in your backyard, while watching TV, or other such similar occasions. For these instances, you do not even really need either the club or an actual golf ball. The simple repetition of 'going over it in your mind' (even if the 'practice' is pretend) can greatly enhance one's actual performance while out on the green!

Truly, there is a lot of information available on and about "Golf Tips for Beginners". Just remember, the most important things for you to remember as a beginning golfer is to stick to the basics and increase your knowledge and confidence as you grow your basic golfing skills. All this -combined- will enable you to learn all the golfing lingo, the clubs, the putting, etc., etc., etc.

-and will have you FULLY ENJOYING those 18 rounds

ALL THE TIME!
