subject: You Can Find It In Chicago [print this page]

Chicago is a city of contrastsChicago is a city of contrasts. If you crave high-paced living among high-rise buildings where the pulse of life is filled with throbbing traffic and people milling and thronging constantly, you can find that. If you want normal city life, it's there too. If you'd prefer the quiet and tranquil setting of gentle village life, Chicago can offer that as well. This is truly a city that caters to everyone's taste.

Chicago's contrasts are not only found in the places and in the way people live. This is a city where there are a multitude of parks. If you crave a country setting, but don't want to stray too far from urban life, Chicago is the perfect place to be. The downtown lakeshore area, for example, is practically one massive park.

You can also find considerable contrasts in the weather too. In summer it can be over 100 degrees of heat with flat humid calm, the kind of weather that leaves you sticky and longing for something cool. In winter it lives up to its nickname of the windy city with howling winds and temperatures that can drop to an arctic-numbing minus 20 or more.

This is a great city for shoppers. Whatever it is you want, you can buy it somewhere in Chicago. The Magnificent Mile is not called that for nothing. This section of Michigan Avenue is a world noted area of great shopping experience, a shopper's paradise that includes great dining and theater venues. If shopping is your thing, you need look no further. You could easily have an entire vacation here, just shopping in paradise.

Housing in Chicago is another area where you will find great contrasts. From high class lakeview apartments, to historic family homes, to luxury Chicago rentals, there's a place to suit every pocket and every need. The real estate market in Chicago, whether for sale or rental, is extremely healthy, vibrant and surprisingly competitively priced.

No city is complete without its attractions for the visitor. Chicago has enough attractions to keep any visitor happy for a long time. Over two million people visit the John G Shedd Aquarium every year that houses some 1,500 different aquatic species. There are 80 different habitats, ranging from Alaskan sea otters to Californian sea lions, with whales, dolphins and more in between.

Other worthwhile attractions in Chicago include several major museums and art galleries, as well as the Adler Planetarium on the shores of Lake Michigan. If you want real excitement, then step boldly on to the Ledge, a balcony made entirely of glass that can be accessed from the Skydeck Chicago, the tallest building in the area, and one of the tallest in the world. Standing on the Ledge is like hovering in mid air, 1,353 feet up. From the Ledge you can see all that is to be found in Chicago.
