For beautiful fall color the Autumn Blaze Maple is quite amazing. First developed at Jeffers Nursery in Ohio, it blends the vigor and adaptability of the Silver maple with the strength and beautiful fall color of the Red Maple cultivars. The Autumn Blaze Maple grows rapidly to 60' tall with a spread of about 40'.

The fast growth growth of the Autumn Blaze Maple make this tree one of the most requested tree varieties around. The fall color is a brilliant orange-red, and its leaves hang on longer ithan most maples. This popular tree has few if any enemies. The Autumn Blaze Maple is relatively disease free, 'verticillium wilt' is the only known possible disease issue. Autumn Blaze Maple will grow well in most kinds of soil, and was named Urban Tree of the Year in 2003.

This tree grows well in a wide temperature range beginning in USDA Zone 3 and extending through Zone 8. The Autumn Blaze Maple leaves are larger than most Red Maples, and put on beautiful fall color that can last well into November.. The Autumn Blaze Maple fulfills its role in the landscape as a beautiful tree and shade tree. It can be mixed in with other Red Maples in the landscape to lengthen the fall color period. The Autumn Blaze Maple should be planted at least 12' on apart. If you are planting along a boulevard or parking strip, 20' on center will look amazing in when the trees grow and develop full heads in 5 years or so.

The Autumn Blaze is the one of the fastest growing of all the maples we have in our nursery, and is a very popular variety. If you are considering improving your landscaping there a lot to consider. Who you purchase your trees from is important. Price is something to consider but quality and long life is where real economy come in to play.

If you get a tree from a big box store it looks good to start with. When you pull off the pot to plant it you will may see the roots are tightly bound in a ball. If you have ever experienced planting a tree only to have it die two years later. After you have thrown away the receipt what happened was as that ball of roots tried to grow out in the new soil they ended up strangling themselves. A quality nursery will work to keep their trees from experiencing this problem. That kind of quality care does cost more but it pays off in the end. You will be pleased with the Autumn Blaze Maple you are looking for beauty and durability.
