subject: Nfl Tickets- Ochocinco Finds A New Home In Miami [print this page]

In 2011-2012, the Miami Dolphins had a rollercoaster season. They started off slow, winning none of their first seven games and struggling in the passing game. And then came their savior in a game against the Redskins in which they not only won, but looked like a team poised for a comeback. Although the Dolphins finished with a 6-10 record, the last half of their season vastly improved and it seemed that all they would need the following season to sell a few NFL tickets and have a winning season is some new firepower. As a remedy, the Miami Dolphins signed Joe Philbin as the new head coach and then got Chad Ochocinco after he was released by the New England Patriots. Back in his hometown, the Dolphins are hoping they found the motivation they need to be successful.

Ochocinco in New England:

The six-time Pro Bowler has recently admitted that he struggled to grasp the New England playbook. Ochocinco only had one touchdown and 15 receptions for 276 yards the entire season, with about half coming in the final weeks of the regular season. But Ochocinco thinks the playbook simply did not make sense to him and that made him not play as well as he normally he can.

Ochocinco's Skills:

Despite his age, 34, Chad Ochocinco is still an accomplished wide receiver in the league, one with a valuable skill set and a few years left in the tank. He has made the Pro Bowl six times in his professional career and has made an impact on just about every team he has played for - except for maybe his one-year stint with the Patriots. He still has the same explosiveness and speed that made him one of the best receivers in the league, which is why Philbin recruited him for his rebuilding year this season.

The Miami Dolphins have actually struggled offensively in the last few seasons. Coach Philbin comes in as a first year head coach with the Dolphins and hopes to build up their offense even though the team did not pick up a receiver until the sixth round of the draft. That was a bit of a shock to Dolphins fans who understand that the team struggles in that area. Ochocinco was signed on to hopefully fill in that gap. The fact remains that in his career, Ochocinco has had 67 touchdowns and has caught 766 passes for 11,059 yards. With less than a dozen touchdowns hauled in by the rest of the Dolphins' receivers, that makes Ochocinco a low-risk, high-reward signing.

For the Dolphins to have a successful season offensively, and a successful season all-around, they need Ochocinco to be productive. He will need to catch the ball consistently and ensure that he gets some touchdowns early. The fact is that the Dolphins are sort of relying on Ochocinco to be their main receiver and the one that will take them to the playoffs. With his highly decorated past, it may just be in him to be their leader.
