. With this operating system update comes many new updates and features, which will be put into greater detail here.

For newer models, this operating system will be pre-installed. Unfortunately, some Lion-powered Mac computers will not have the power to update to the latest version of Lion. The computer's requirements for running Lion are much more strict, including running at least 2 GB of RAM. Older Macs that can't handle the power of the new Lion will be dropped from this service.

The most notable difference between Mountain Lion and previous systems is the integration between Apple computers and mobile devices, as well as bringing more iOS features into the fold. For instance, Mountain Lion will introduce Messages, Notes and Reminders, apps that were once only available in iOS. Mountain Lion will also use iOS utilities such as Notification Center and Airplay mirroring.

On Mountain Lion, iOS chatting client Messages will replace iChat for good. The client, like iChat, will still support other services such as AIM and Gtalk. A new feature in Message is the integration of Facetalk, which allows for easy video messaging. Where iMessage, iChat and Facetalk, once separate, Mountain Lion will be comfortably consolidate these apps here.

In times past, Growl has been the ultimate nofication system of previous OS X models. Mountain Lion, on the other hand, will end up using iOS Notification Center to dethrone the old Growl system.

Airplay Mirroring allows for users to transition between computer and television screens for use. Such mirroring is limited to a 720p resolution.

With Mountain Lions use of iCloud, the new operating system will be improving upon the Dropbox experience for Macs. Any file or folder dropped into your iCloud will be seen from any other device or computer linked to that iCloud account.

The Reminders app essentially takes the to-do list feature from iCal and improves upon it to make it more user-friendly. You can search through your reminders, make lists, set dates and alerts.

Mountain Lion has also built Twitter into the system so that you can directly share photo and text from your hard drive. The built-in Twitter will also automatically notify you whenever youve been mentioned or messaged.

Gatekeeper is a new security app for Mountain Lion while safeguards against harmful downloads. Although Macs are less susceptible to malicious apps, Gatekeeper allows you to change your download setting to limit your download sources to trusted sites.

Game Center, which has always been available for iOS, will now be available on Mountain Lion. You will be able to log into your account in the same way as you would on your phone or mobile device.

Yet another big addition is Screen Sharing. This allows you to simply drag a file into the shared screen, which automatically copies over to any device of your choosing.

Dictation, previously only available on Apple devices, will now be available via Mountain Lion. Dictation allows your speech to be directly transcribed by the computer and works across multiple apps.

All of these updates will be available from the release of OS X Mountain Lion, available for computer rental Irvine upon release. Even better, Apple gives current Mac owners incentive to upgrade to Mountain Lion by including a very low price ($19.99, to be exact).
