subject: A Day Out At The Theme Park Is Always Memorable [print this page]

With the school holidays approaching, and the British summer so far failing to perform (as usual) it is time to start thinking about activities to keep the kids occupied. Theme parks are a great way to entertain the kids whilst providing an excellent excuse for you to act like one. Whether you are a daring thrill seeker looking for the fastest rollercoasters or a fan of the more traditional pirates boat there is always something for everyone. Even if rides arent your thing and the day out is simply a cunning plan to wear out the kids in order to get that quiet evening to yourself later in the day, you may be surprised at how much you enjoy it.

Its fair to say the experience probably wouldnt be as fun without the common comedy mishaps which are all part and parcel of the day out. Here are but a few of the common slap stick happenings at a day out at the theme park.

Despite your gentle encouragement that the ghost train might have been a better, more fun option the kids have determinedly held their ground, dubbing your alternative as totally un-cool, demanding that it must be the biggest and best rollercoaster which they experience today. Youve waited in a queue for what seems like forever and you can finally see the seats as they clang and crash into the parking zone. Your stomach turns; this is not your idea of fun. The kids race on and you follow reluctantly, slowly boarding the big machine, palms sweating.

As the bars move down and lock and your feet dangle below the realization suddenly dawns on you that not only have you not removed your 150 pair of glasses, you are also wearing loose slip on shoes. Before you can protest the coaster starts to make noises and begins to move forward. It quickly picks up speed and before you know it you are rushing through the air dipping and turning and actually strangely enjoying it.

The next twist takes you zooming down over a murky lake; it is here where one of your shoes decides to depart flailing through the air into the questionable water below. Surprisingly you dont care and you are having a fantastic time, a sudden flash comes out of nowhere and youre not sure what it is, but hey this is great. Eventually you pull into the bay and the ride is over. The kids drag you to the photo sales booth and demand that you buy it. So this is what the flash was. You now own a ridiculous photograph of you looking mildly crazy with steamed up glasses and one shoe. One for the memory book!
