There have been many leading researches conducted against Triclosan and each showing its negative impact. According to a recent study conducted by a non profit organization EWG (Environmental Working Group), Triclosan is:

1. Being targeted in Europe for removal because of its hazardous implications for both

health and environment.

2. Even American Medical Association is against its use in homes

3. Triclosan has been seen as a major endocrine disruptor that causes problem in thyroid

hormone system and one of the major causes of antibiotic resistance.

4. The amount of toxicity it exposes the environment to is huge. Scientists have found this chemical to pollute environment and endanger aquatic life. Triclosan was traced in 85 rivers and streams across U.S.

5. When it mixes with tap water treated with chlorine it forms a carcinogen which has been linked with cancer.

With so many environment and health hazards, concerns raised against this chemical are understandable and avoiding Triclosan a better option. Here are few alternative to stay Triclosan free:-

1. Stay and Live Organic Prefer organic personal care products over harsh chemicals. There are many alternatives available in market offering product containing organic and natural ingredients in shampoos, bath soaps, toothpastes and liquid soaps. It is better to use such products than to bear negative effectives of Triclosan.

2. Start Reading Labels It is time you start reading labels for personal care products. It is important to know ingredients of products so that you know which ones to leave. Another ingredient

to watch out is Triclocarban which is somewhat similar to Triclosan. Researches have found it to be another harmful hormone disruptor. For personal hygiene prefer Triclosan free soap and other products.

3. Avoid Antibacterial Products These products have more likelihood of having Triclosan. Anything that says germ-free, antibacterial should be duly checked for this chemical.

Antibacterial Soaps: Are They Important?

You may be surprised to know antibacterial soap is no better than plain soap. In fact according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) lukewarm water and simple soap are sufficient to keep infection and germs away.

Besides any soap containing Triclosan requires minimum two minutes application time to get proper results. No person waits that long and washes off before it can act. There is also no denying the fact that prolonged use of anti bacterial soap can cause anti bacterial resistance. This chemical filled soap is responsible to destroy the natural flora of the skin that is rather useful. Thus a liquid or bath soap without Triclosan is equally effective and safe for daily personal care.
