The camellia is one of the most popular evergreen shrubs for winter gardens, with glossy leaves and beautiful pastel coloured blooms. There are many varieties with different colours and sizes, and add a burst into any garden.

The crocus species are always bright and fiery, and come in over seventy varieties so you can choose the right colour for you. They need well drained soil and a spot in the garden where there is the most sunlight, but planted in the right place they will provide you with gorgeous colours in the winter months.

Snowdrops are one of the first flowers to bloom after the winter, and they seed themselves so will come up year after year. They grow best in the shade, so perfect for the rubbish English winter!

The firethorn produces bright orange berries in the late summer which last all through the winter. They attract wildlife so will bring birds to your garden through the winter months, and are happy in both sun and shade.
