Being able to see NO to utilizing alcohol and drugs should come with the reason that there are actually more exciting things to do than indulging yourself into such habit. It can also be helpful to answer friends who're likely to give the substances.

The strong influence of the media on the consumer population has made alcohol and drugs rampant among young and adults. That's why everyone must learn to resist any invitations to take alcohol or drugs so they won't end up being in drug rehab centers in the future.

How to Avoid Getting Oneself Into Addiction

Do not attend gatherings or celebrations which include the use of alcohol or drugs.

Certainly, there are occasions that a friend of yours may host a drinking party which may also include substance use. If you attend the occasion, you can't escape from the possibility that you will try drinking. But if you really need to come, it's wise to be with a group of friends who doesn't drink alcohol or take substances.

Always NO to substance offers.

Usually, when people ask you to try on a substance and you say NO, they may feel bad and walk away. However, some of them will keep on convincing you until you'll give it a try. Just be consistent in your resistance and you'll not get yourself into substance trouble.

Make some excuses.

When you are offered with alcohol or drugs, you can just say that you don't like the substances. You don't need to be elaborative because a simple statement can express how you feel about the offer.

Escape when you are chased.

When you're consistently offered with a substance and you appear to have no other choice, the best thing which you can do is to go home. In order to excuse yourself without being impolite, you can let your parents pick you up so they can excuse you from the group.

Seek the help of an adult or someone in authority when you are still bothered.

If a friend of yours is offended by your resistance to his offer and bothers the following day, you can tell your mother and father about this or your principal when he chases you at school.

Saying NO to alcohol and drugs is just a matter of decision-making. You'll just need to convince yourself that you don't want to try it in the first place and you don't like the idea of being in alcohol treatment centers.
