Age of Applicant and Citizenship

An applicant must be 21 years of age before applying for an FFL. He/she must also be a citizen of the United States.

Personal Record

The Government will look closely at a criminal record. They will find out about it whether you tell them or not, so you better dont hide anything. Not all such activities end in a denial, so tell them honestly if you have ever been convicted and let them decide. If you are a member in good standing in your local community, it will aid in your application process.

The ATF Visit

You must be prepared for a visit by The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. They will inspect the property from where you will conduct the business, before you are approved by the FFL. They will also interview you, so you must do homework on answering their questions. You must answer them honestly and correctly as wrong replies would eliminate any chances of getting the approval.
