Unless of course you are using wordpress.com which is not what I am using which is wordpress.org. I know its sound confusing, but it is not, just follow my tips and guidance and you will not fail, I never do! why should you?
There are a lot of host companies out there that offer hosting and domain services and yes, I have acoounts with the top boys like Just Host and Host Gator, but my preference at this point is the Green Geeks. I am not writing this as a review about them you can simple visit the review site I already built. In a nut shell they are very simple to use, user friendly template and super! quick set up and activation andI am all for the environment as they use green energy, What? I had a similar reaction, they use wind to produce power, BIG windmills.

To set up a domain and hosting account to hook up your wordpress is as difficult as deciding what you want to call yourself (URL in geek terms) as you need this to exist on the big wide web, same principle as postal address, good luck to the postman finding you if you dont have an address, unless you are based in the country in Ireland and it is up to your neighbours to guide the postman

More to the point, dont go all geeky and technical, just start by deciding what you would like your website to be called and then got to Green Geeks and see if it is available, you will soon receive a message if it is not. Same idea as trying to set up an e-mail and somebody else has the user you want, simple, think of another unique one. Of course make it relevant to what you want your website to be about.
So get a move on and get this step out the way so you can start using wordpress to build your own website.
