subject: St. Paul And Minneapolis Suburbs: Find The Right Community To Move Into [print this page]

Moving to Minnesota? A great decision, considering the economy is picking up quite a bit after the recession and employment opportunities are increasing with each passing year. But before moving to a new place, you need to know everything about it such as lifestyle, housing options, safety, and other criteria. This is even more important if you are considering a permanent move or a reasonably long term move. Moving companies will do their jobs by assisting you with the move, but the research about the neighborhoods will have to be done by you.

The two most popular cities in Minnesota are St. Paul and Minneapolis. These cities are also referred to as twin cities. Both are more or less on the same level in terms of lifestyle, job prospects, education, etc. But it is you who has to decide what kind of neighborhood will be best suited for your requirements so take a quick look:

Merriam Park, Lexington-Hamline (St. Paul)

If you look for a complete package, then you found a perfect place. Divided between residential nooks south of I-94 and industrial areas to the north, it has amazing parks and beautiful walking trails along the Mississippi on E. River Parkway. There are many fun options such as shops, pubs, and restaurants. The Blue Door Pub, the antique extravaganza Mall of St. Paul at Selby, and Fairview are huge hits with the locals. It is well connected by public transport too.

Highland (St. Paul)

Do you want to experience a small-town lifestyle and yet not move away completely from the big-city feel? Highland beckons to you with numerous avenues for recreations like a disc golf course, Highland National Golf Course, and the Highland Park Aquatic Center. When it comes to education the Cretin-Durham Hall is one of the best in all of St. Paul. With properly spaced cafes, eateries, department stores, and shops, you will have no problems settling here.

Longfellow (Minneapolis)

This community was named after writer Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and it is located on the southeast of Minneapolis. The area comprises mostly of middle classes and young working professionals. The neighborhood is situated along the Mississippi River and the Mississippi River Gorge regional park provides an excellent trail for leisurely walks.

Phillips (Minneapolis)

This neighborhood is a mix and match of nationalities because there are many commercial, industrial and residential areas here. Philips is just south of downtown Minneapolis. Originally people would avoid staying here given a high crime rate, but in the recent years the rate has reduced quite a bit and the place is safe and secure for residents and their children.

Searching for moving companies is not an issue with the Internet. Search for Minneapolis movers or St. Paul moving companies online and you will find many listings among which you can pick.
