Prescription medications are more misused by individuals more than any drugs like crystal meth, heroin and cocaine as they think that prescription drugs are safer.

Depressants

These medications are meant to treat sleep disorders and anxiety in people. As people use them frequently, they will build tolerance to the medications which results to taking more dose to enjoy the same effects. Side effects of these medications include disconnectedness and sleepiness. Some prescription drug abuse that are caused by depressants will trigger recreational drug abuse.

Narcotic Pain Drugs

These medications are among the most over used medicines because of their euphoric effect. Health professionals prescribe these medications to help clients to control severe and acute pain. They are very appealing to people because of the way they aid them to have a different sensation towards stress and problem. But, just like other prescription medications, pain relievers are habit forming when used by clients regularly. Usually, those who have been addicted to these medicines will end up using other recreational drugs.

Stimulants

These drugs work by thrilling the brain rather than relaxing or depressing it which results in an increased degree of energy. Stimulants are often prescribed to clients who have difficulties in sleeping. When utilized, these drugs will cause problems like loss of appetite, stroke, high blood pressure and heart attack. People become addicted to these drugs because of their capability to provide users the vitality and well-being, although higher dosage will lead to hostility and paranoia.

Aside from the addictive properties of prescription drugs, they may also result in unintentional deaths when overused. It is important for sufferers to follow what is prescribed by their doctor to avoid experiencing all the side effects. For those who have been dependent on prescription drugs, early acknowledgement of the problem is important so that they can get rid of the traces of the medications inside their body before the problem gets worst.
