After having a bitter experience, the French car maker re-entered Indian car market last year. At that time the company had announced that it will launch five new cars in India. Duster would be the fourth product from the car maker and the first low priced product, else the rest three cars belong to the premium segments in their respective divisions. The other three Renault cars launched in India include, Renault Fluence sedan, Renault Koleos crossover and Renault Pulse hatchback which was launched in the month of January at the 11th Auto Expo. Renault Duster launch has been advanced by the company which earlier was slated for the month of September or October. The SUV is present in global markets under the badge of Dacia, however in India it will be sold under Renault"s badge.
Renault Duster specifications are as follows, the SUV has a length of 4.3 meters, it can seat five adults comfortably. The SUV is based on the B0 platform, the vehicle would be offered in three engine options, these would be the 1.6 litre petrol engine, 1.5 litre K9 diesel mill and 1.5 litre K9 diesel engine engendering low power and torque. The 1.5 litre diesel mill will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, while the petrol variant will be synchronized to a 5-speed transmission gearbox. Renault Duster SUV will be affixed with disc brakes at the front however, the rear will have drums. The vehicle will also have 16 inch alloy wheels granting a plush feel to the exteriors.
The SUV can propel from0 to 60 kph in meagre 5 seconds and 0-100 kph in just 12.2 seconds. Now comes the most important part, the price of the compact SUV, Renault Duster India price is expected to fall in the range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. Renault until now has not been able to do wonders in the domestic market with its premium products; the company has high hopes from the Duster SUV. Petrol price hike has changed the dynamics of the Industry completely as the car makers have tilted towards diesel cars. Customers" preference has taken a u turn from petrol powered cars to diesel engine cars. However, there is still no certainty about the hike in diesel price too, in such a dynamic market let us see how the Duster SUV will perform. The sales have been stagnant in the domestic market and car makers have even put their investment plans on hold due to this stagnancy.
