subject: How Buying A New Washing Machine Can Save You Money [print this page]

Since Britain hit the recession, worries about finances have been high on a lot of peoples agendas. Many a sleepless night has been spent wondering whether they will be able to afford to maintain the life that they are currently living, desperately considering new and inventive ways to save money.

The problem with money saving ideas is that it is incredibly difficult to project whether or not it will end up saving you money in the long run and whether the effort that you will have to put in to initiating and completing the change will be worth the money that you save.

As a way of trying to prevent any waste of time and effort, here is a list of three changes you could make, that could make all the difference in the battle against the recession:

1.Change to a water meter Water in Britain has been headline news for many different reasons in this year alone. We began the year with a record low level of water, leading to the governments decision to impose a hosepipe ban in many counties across the country. This move was followed by one of the wettest springs in history leaving many counties unable to use their hoses while their town was two foot under water. If you are not yet paying for the water you use in your house dependant on your usage on your meter then you will be paying a fixed amount each year depending on the rateable value of your property. The gamble is do you think you use more or less water than this in reality. If you think you keep your water usage to a minimum then it will be a good move to have a meter fitted. These can usually be fitted free of charge and mean you will start saving money immediately.

2.Buy a new washing machine and tumble dryer If your washing appliances are outdated the chances are they will be costing you over the odds to run. Take this opportunity to sell up and purchase more recent replacements and you will soon see the savings on your electricity bill.

3.Research your multimedia packages Nowadays a huge majority of households will utilise television, the internet and mobile and landline telephones. For people who have taken advantage of these services for a number of years the likelihood is that all these services will be from different providers all charging over the odds. It is common in recent years for one company to provide all of these services in one package. The key to getting the best deal is to compare offers and ask each company to better the other. They are all desperate for your custom so if you take a little bit of time you will not believe the savings that you can make.
