subject: How Do You Spend Your Time Making Money? [print this page] When you sit down to make money online do you spend the majority of your time actually doing something that's going to make you money? Be honest with yourself! There are many ways make money on the Internet today, but most people goof off and call it work.
I've never been particularly fond of social networking sites such as Facebook because to me it seems like they are very time consuming for the results they produce in terms of making money. Social networking is good for keeping up with friends and relatives, but I don't particularly like to promote business opportunities or products I am selling to them anyway.
When analyzing your time management ask yourself how you your time every day working online?
1. Niche selection. If you don't have a product to sell you need to find a niche to be in.
This should be a micro-niche as the Internet has become more competitive and you need to narrow down the market you are in. Google search "niche selection" and take a look at some of the ideas.
2. Product selection. What are you going to sell? You need to monetize your website with products or services.
Carefully consider what products you are going to represent before you start to promote them. You might even want to go so far as to purchase the products you want to sell and learn about them. Affiliate marketing is a good business model for this.
3. Website design. Once you get your site setup you should spend the majority of time on advertising and marketing.
To me it seems people spend a lot of time designing and redesigning their site. Many times they really don't have adequate traffic to know if they're converting at a high enough rate to make money or not.
4. Get paid to programs. If you don't want to mess around with the previous three things just sit down and join a few get paid to programs and start making money.
You can get paid to write articles at iWriter. You can get paid to take surveys at Cash Crate or Inbox Dollars. There are plenty of things you can do to get paid without becoming a full-fledged Internet marketer.
5. Continuity programs. These are great for recurring income. Kevin Wilke has an excellent course on Local Business Money Machines and making money in the local business market.
Promote programs that pay you in the future as well as today. Network marketing and 2-tier affiliate programs are another way to do this.
It seems like common sense to analyze how you are spending your time every day, but it is easy to get side tracked and lose your focus on what is important. If you waste a lot of time you're not going to make money and ultimately you will become another Internet marketing casualty.
