subject: Different Ways To Tie A Headscarf [print this page] Headscarves remain a popular fashion accessory. They come in all different fabrics, colors, and patterns. They can go with virtually any outfit and look fantastic. Regardless of the reasons for wearing a headscarf, be they religious, fashion, or health reasons, you need to know how to properly tie the head covering so that it looks good! Here are a few different ways to tie a headscarf.
The most traditional way to tie the scarf is also one of the easiest looks to achieve. First, fold your headscarf into a triangle. This usually just means to fold it diagonally. After you fold it diagonally put the long edge, the folded edge, on your forehead either right on your hairline or an inch or two back on your head allowing your hair to show underneath. The point of the triangle should be facing backwards toward the nape of your neck. The two long pieces of the triangle should be hanging near your shoulders. Take those two long pieces and tie them behind your head near the nape of your neck. If you have long hair you're going to want to tie the headscarf underneath your hair. Be careful, you don't want to tie any hair into the knot! That could seriously hurt!
If you want a more retro kind of look you can try this knot. Fold the headscarf into a triangle as before. Instead of putting the folded edge on your forehead place it under your hair at the nape of your neck. Take the two long ends of the headscarf and bring them up to the top of your head. You can either cover your ears or you can decide to bring the scarf up behind your ears to leave them free. This is personal preference. Tie one small knot in the ends of the scarf on the top of your head. Make sure it's centered or you might not cover all of your hair. Pull the triangle piece under your hair up to the top where you just tied the knot. You can either try to tie this piece in or you can simply attach it with safety pins. Tuck in any stray hair so that nothing is hanging in your face. This is a great "retro" look for wearing a headscarf.
There are many more ways to wear a headscarf but these are the two most popular and simplest ways to tie it into your hair.
