subject: The Perfect Vacation [print this page] I had cashed in on all the leave I had and took a week off from work. It was a very required vacation I needed as I had really been over worked the last few months, several new campaigns and pitches ensured I never got home before 10 or 11pm. These long hours of being in the office had finally caught up to me and I needed a break from it all. I was yet to plan what I was going to do during the span of my time off. After sitting at home for an entire day, thinking about what I should do for the next week I finally came to the conclusion that I was going to drive down to my hometown of Lucknow and spend some quality time with my parents who still lived there. Normally my parents came down to Delhi for a few months of the year and I thought since it is been almost two years since I have been back home, now was the perfect time.
Me and my wife decided to leave the next morning and since it was going to be a long eight hour drive we loaded up the car with snacks, beverages and anything we may need along the way. We woke up just before sunrise and were out of the house by 6.30am. With all our luggage neatly stowed in the boot we were away, I stopped at the petrol pump near my house to fill up fuel and get my oil, coolant, water and tyre pressure checked as it was going to be a long drive. After exiting the city we were cruising along the NH-2 highway, after driving for around 160kms we reached Mathura where we stopped for a quick breakfast. We then continued on the NH-2 towards Agra, after crossing Agra we faced a patch of bad roads where there was a lot of unfinished construction work. Then by around 3pm we crossed Kanpur, we stopped on the side of the road and my wife took the wheel for sometime as I needed a break. As we neared Lucknow the roads were brilliant and we were cruising at a good speed of around 100kmph.
We finally entered Lucknow by around 7.30pm; all our breaks and pit stops along the way had made us lose quite some time. We finally reached my parents house and they were thrilled to see me. Just seeing the smile on their faces gave me the most immense feeling of joy. This road trip was a great idea and I could not wait to just relax and spend some quality time with my parents. I was very satisfied with the performance of my WagonR. I had really tested it is through this long road trip and in my opinion it would be the best family car in India.
