subject: Diesel Engine Exporter [print this page]

Diesel Engine is a combustion engine that requires heat to flame the fuel. Diesel Engine depends on the internal combustion of fuel to start up the engine. Diesel Engines have a long and reputed history. With changing times and technologies, steam engines got outdated and were replaced by modern Diesel Engines. Initially, Diesel Engines were used in ships and later on they came to be used in automobiles and electricity generating plants.

Types of Diesel Engines

Basically there are two types of Diesel Engine. They are listed below:

Four-Stroke Diesel Engine

In a four-stroke Diesel Engine, the metal disc or the piston moves from downward to upward direction to complete a cycle. The first downward stoke draws air into the cylinder and after that the upward movement compresses the air. The second downward stroke is a power stroke and the second upward stroke exhaust the air generated during combustion process. Four stroke engines require exhaust and air intake valves.

Two-Stoke Diesel Engine

Two-stroke Diesel Engines are mechanically simpler when compared to Four-Stroke Diesel Engines. A Two-stroke Diesel Engine, as is clear from the name, operates in two strokes. The engine requires only one revolution to complete the four cycles of internal combustion. It means that the intake, compression, ignition and exhaust are all completed in one revolution.

Apart from these two distinct types, Diesel Engines can be categorized as Small Sized Diesel Engine, Medium Sized Diesel Engine and Large sized Diesel Engine.

Advantages of Diesel Engine In Comparison With A Gas Engine

Efficient- Diesel Engines are more efficient as compared to gas engine. Diesel engines dont create much noise pollution.

Low maintenance- Diesel Engine needs low maintenance as compared to a gas engine.

Fuel cost- The cost of fuel for Diesel Engine is comparatively low relative to the fuel cost for a gas engine.

Diesel Engines are more reliable.

Diesel Engines burn the fuel slowly but a gas engine burns the fuel more quickly generating a great amount of heat which adversely affects the life span of a gas engine.

Application of Diesel Engine

Diesel Engines are widely used for generating power. They are used in automobiles, at construction sites and for different applications in industries. Diesel Engines are also used in generators for power supply. Moreover, they are used in marine ships and agricultural applications for power generation. There are a number of Diesel Engine Exporters in India that provide rugged, dependable and cost effective Diesel Engines. One can find them on websites and portals.
