CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 is a powerful graphic design suite for vector illustration, page layout, web graphics and animation and for photo editing. For that, it provides more than just one application.
The base application of this suite is CorelDRAW. It's a really complex and powerful tool for creating and editing vector illustrations, logo designs and page layouts. It comes with great learning tools, templates and tutorials so that any user could start to create graphics right away.
This new version of CorelDRAW brings some improvements to the drawing tools, such as lock toolbars (preventing them from being moved or closed while drawing), artistic media, mesh fill, join curves, snapping, dimension tools, or diagramming.
One of the most popular features of CorelDRAW, namely PowerTrace, allows to automatically convert a bitmap into an outlined or centre-lined drawing. It offers control over corner handling, color merging and overlap removal to deliver smoother and easily editable results.
CorelDRAW offers a new SWiSH miniMAX 2 for animating images. It allows to animate images, control motion, draw shapes, edit text and many more. The user will be able to view how the content will be displayed online using Pixels mode.
Corel PHOTO-PAINT is the image-editing application provided by this suite designed for use in a graphics workflow. It has a really nice interface, really clean and offers great editing tools, from basic drawing tools, to image adjustments (auto adjust, straighten image, contrast enhancement, tone curve, etc) and effects (organized in groups such as 3D effects, contour, blur, creative, texture, etc).
Corel PHOTO-PAINT allows to work with masks and objects (these are similar to the layers from other applications). It also provides a really great tool for removing parts from images, called Cutout Lab. And it does provide all the basic and more advanced functions of an image editor.
There's also a capture utility in this suite called Corel CAPTURE. It allows to capture a window, a menu or an area, and for each of these, more advanced settings can be made. It has hotkey support, and offers to capture the screen after a set period of time (delay). The captured image can then be opened with CorelDRAW.
Other than these applications, the suite offers various documentation, such as quick-reference card, help files, online guidebook and over 2 hours of training videos on the DVD. It also comes with over 10,000 high-quality clipart and digital images, over 2,000 vehicle templates, over 1,000 OpenType fonts, 350 professionally designed templates and over 1,000 high-resolution digital images.
This suite offers importing and exporting capabilities for over 100 industry-standard formats, from AI, to PSD, DOCX, ODS, EPS or DXF. It also supports latest Photoshop CS4 file formats that can preserve layers, mask palette effects, editable vibrance, grayscale or camera filter lenses. There's also built-in content organizer called Corel CONNECT that allows to find graphics, fonts, templates or images on the computer.
