Cleaning your silicone bakeware can be a difficult job particularly when you have forgotten to clean it right after baking. If you simple wash it with soap and water, you will not get rid of it completely. It is highly advised that you avoid the usage of baking sprays and grease. But still, you could still have sticky residual that comes from the food you bake. And just the same, they are difficult to remove.

Below are some of the basic and efficient methods on how to clean your silicone bakeware properly.

1. Wash your silicone bakeware by using boiling water and a grease-cutting liquid dish soap. Use a scrub which is not too rough to avoid scratches on your bakeware. As you perform the scrubbing, apply only light pressure. Do a circular motion when you scrub.

2. After that, rinse your bakeware with tap water. Check if there are still some sticky substances left. Do this by feeling the surface of your silicone bakeware.

3. If there are still some sticky substances left, pour a significant amount of baking soda on your bakeware particularly on the sticky areas.

4. With the use of the same non-abrasive scrub you used initially, carefully scrub the baking soda. Do so until you have created a paste-like material.

5. Leave the baking soda paste for some time or until it dries up completely.

6. Using the same kind of soap you used before, wash your bakeware again. Make use of boiling water again to rinse it. To remove the dry baking soda paste, scrub your bakeware using the same non-abrasive scrub.

7. Rinse it again thoroughly. Feel the surface of your silicone bakeware again to see if it is cleaned completely. If you feel some sticky substances left, repeat the process which involves the application of baking soda, until your bakeware is totally clean.

Remember, it is very essential to clean your bakeware right after baking. You do this to avoid the hardening of baked oils and grease. The moment they harden even more, it would be harder to get rid of them completely.If this happens, you will have a harder time removing them completely. For sure you have invested in your silicone bakeware, so it is but necessary that you take good care of it and apply proper cleaning methods. Otherwise you might unintentionally remove the silicone on the surface of your bakeware which makes it unique and special.
