Before the move, show your kids around the new house. Ask them to choose their rooms, talk to them about what color they want their rooms to be. They will have a homely feeling and will accept it as their new home faster.

Make them understand that moving to a different place does not mean that they cant keep in touch with their friends. Ask them to provide their new number and address to their new friends. Initially if you dont have a number, you can call up a few of their friends from your cell phone so that your kids can talk to them. They will feel more cheerful this way.

A new school means a scary world for children. Accompany them to their new school for the first few days. Interact with their teachers and explain the situation. In fact, why dont you take them on a tour of their new school before the move? This will help them to blend in better.

Encourage your children to socialize and make new friends. There must be other families in the neighborhood ask your children to play with the other kids. You can start by inviting a few families over to your home with their children so that your kids get a chance to know them as well.

Making your children join a swimming club or any other sport related clubs is a good idea as well.

Try not to change your usual routine too much during and after the move is over. Keep the timings of their mealtimes, bedtimes, and playtimes same as before - this will make them much more comfortable.
