First, Sony bid adieus to long-time partner Ericsson, and we saw several new products from their kitty with the Sony branding only. Soon, the market flooded with speculations for the next flagship model of the South Korean mobile phone manufacturer, Samsung. HTC and LG soon joined the race, and we saw some great products from their stables as well. In simple words, there is no dearth of new phones in 2012. Lets have a look at some of these great products.

First, its a product from the Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer, HTC. We are talking about the HTC One X, which holds the title of being the first quad-core Android-running smartphone in the market. This astounding smartphone has a Tegra 3 chipset manufactured by NVIDIA along 1GB of RAM. Hence, users will be subjected to mind-boggling speeds. In addition, the 8MP HD snapper with flash is perfect to click snaps of all those precious moments. The front-facing camera is an added bonus. The huge 4.7-inch 720p display seems too big for a mobile phone, but going by the standards in the market its just perfect. Interestingly, it comes with Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich just right out of the box. Of course, it has got the latest Sense 4.0.

The next in our list is the Sony Xperia S. we cannot help it, as we have to mention a Sony smartphone. Sadly, this handset arrived with Android Gingerbread, but now an update has solved this issue. This update brings a plethora of new attributes like resizable widgets, improved control on the data consumption, & a recent applications button to accelerate the launching of often used applications. This handset seems like a nice attempt by the Japanese mobile manufacturer to allure users who have a lot of temptations in their front. Sony did the right thing by releasing this new phone in 2012.

And, how can we forget the majestic Samsung Galaxy S3. Recently, its reported that the South Korean electronics conglomerate hopes to sell 10million units of this handset this quarter. In many markets, the demand of this gadget has easily outstripped supply resulting in delays in shipments. The interesting fact is that this handset has been criticized by many users for a not-so-appealing design, but it hasnt affected its sales. This handset comes with several major enhancements over its predecessor, and with a completely overhauled design. The S-Voice aims at countering the influence of Siri, although both seem to be in beta stages. At the moment, it seems that it is the most popular device in the smartphone universe.

Apple is the only company yet to release a new phone in 2012. We are anticipating the iPhone 5 to hit the market shelves this year. Online world is already flooded with speculations for this upcoming revolution. Apple has a huge task of dealing with the above mentioned smartphones. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
