Just like Kathmandu, Delhi is one of the most historic capitals in the world. Delhi is capital of India. Delhi is situated on the bank of Yamuna. From tourism point of view, we can know Delhi in two parts, first one is Old Delhi and second one is New Delhi. In Old Delhi, there are attractions like mosques, forts and other monuments that represent India's history. Red Fort is one of the most important places of Old Delhi. On the other hand New Delhi is a modern city. Most important and famous places of New Delhi are India Gate (cenotaph which has inscribed in gold the words Amar Jawan), Rajpath, Sansad Bhawan (the Parliament of India, which building designed by the British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker in 19121913) and Rashtrapati Bhawan (the Presidential Palace of India) etc. Except of all these places Delhi is also rich place in case of monuments. Some world famous monuments are Humayun's Tomb (Mughal monument), Purana Quila (Old Fort), Red Fort (the Red Fort was made in 1639, when Shah Jahan decided to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi), Salimgarh Fort, Safdarjung's Tomb. Delhi is also famous for so many temples like Akshardham (depicting ancient Indian "vastu shastra"), Bahai Temple (also known as Lotus Temple) - The structure is made up of pure white marble The architect Furiburz Sabha chose the lotus as the symbol common to Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Islam., Birla Mandir (also famous as Laxmi Narayan Mandir), Iskon Temple (Temple of Lord Krishna). Delhi also world-wide famous for so many markets (Dilli Haat, Chadni Chowk, Khan Market, Connaught Place) & Gardens (Garden of five senses, Lodhi Garden).
