subject: The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing [print this page]

The 7 great lies of network marketing are nothing new. In fact, when many people read them they realize they already knew that the information they were receiving was false and chose to ignore it or not believe it. Some of these are things every sales person might say in order to make a sale, while others are designed to keep you motivated but have no real substance behind them.

Here are some of the things you might hear or have heard when dealing with a network marketing company:

Everyone is a prospective client or customer. Nothing could be further from the truth. Every product has a particular market or set of markets that will find it appealing. There are also markets that will have no interest. That means that saying everyone is a potential customer is false. To make a successful business you must research the demographics of the people most likely to need the products you are offering.

Anyone can do this job and it is not really sales are two more falsehoods you often hear in network marketing. Not everyone can do the job and it really is a sales position. Any time you are marketing a product with the intent to encourage someone to purchase it, you are doing a sales job. People without any job skills in sales or without an idea of how to run a business effectively need to be trained in order to be successful in this type of business.

There are companies that offer to build your business for you. This idea couldn't be further from the truth. If they were building the business, they wouldnt need you. No one is going to build your business for you. If you want it to be a success, you need to have the dedication, commitment and drive to build it yourself.

It is a proven system, and you aren't succeeding because you just don't believe enough are two more routinely used lies. Every person is different. They have different skill levels, different interests and different goals, and as a result no system can be proven to work for everyone. Belief in the products you are selling is necessary. You need to believe that the products are worthwhile, and it should be reflected in how you do business. However, belief without work accomplishes nothing in the world of business.

Finally, this is the best product; there is always a better product being created, already on the market or just a better product for the customer in question. It sounds good but it isn't necessarily the truth. Best often implies perfect and there are few things, if any, that qualify. Most people who hear that this is the best product are automatically skeptical because it simply rings false from the start.

These are the 7 great lies of network marketing and they are often perpetuated by business in general. It is important to keep in mind that hard work, commitment, research, knowledge and skill are all necessary to make a successful and profitable business.
