One of the fastest growing hot spots in Mexico is Playa del Carmen. Hotels are filling with individuals, couples, friends and families from around the world looking for a little slice of Mexican culture. If you've never been, you may think that if you've seen one beach town, you've seen them all. This city has a different vibe. It is more laid back for those travelers who like to pace themselves. Although there is still night life, shopping and plenty of sports, visitors tend to venture to this part of the Yucatan peninsula for three main reasons: the hotels, the geology and the ruminants of Mayan culture. So, why will you be visiting this year?

Yes, there are plenty of visitors throughout the year to Playa del Carmen. Hotels in the area have been developed and adapted to accommodate the variety of tourists that seek a spot to unwind in. They all encompass some of the Yucatan flare that visitors have come to expect. They have amenities for adults only, for families, and everyone in between.

Second to the resolution of finding the right hostel, hotel, resort or villa that you need to rest your head each day is getting out and exploring the city and surrounding land and water. The geology of the area is one that is stunning. There are many caves and sink holes that have been created and show off the underground waterways. This area is also known for its variety of colorful and vocal bird species, which are quite a sight to behold. Lastly, speaking of sights, there are so many Mayan structures that are still standing that you can visit, explore, and photograph for a great encounter of a great civilization during its height. There are still many Mayan people living in that area and scattered throughout the countries of that region.

Where you choose to stay will impact your remaining budget and the amount of room access you'll have throughout the day for a quick nap. But there is so much more to this Mexican city filled with so much to see and do beyond the amenities of any one of the Playa del Carmen hotels. So you shouldn't limit your stay or your options of entertainment, adventure and education. No matter how many plans you make there is always room to learn about yourself, a new place, and the people of that place. Playa del Carmen is worth it.
