subject: No Need To Sweat Hyperhidrosis [print this page] Of the many cosmetic procedures that exist, Botox seems to be the one that is most commonly known in the mainstream. I have had many of my friends ask me about Botox, bringing up the wondrous results it has been known for in the field of wrinkle elimination. And while Botox has been very successful in helping patients with the anti-aging process, it does so much more.
Were you aware that Botox injections have been used to assist patients with excess sweating? I recently came across an excellent YouTube video that helps to better explain. In the video, Dr. William Hall treats a patient named Jennifer who has been experiencing excessive sweating also known as Hyperhidrosis for the better part of five years.
Jennifer explains that she has tried numerous medications in an effort to lessen the amount of sweating that occurs in her underarms. Nothing compares to what the Botox injections do, she insisted. At the office for her second Botox injection, Jennifer estimated that since her first treatment seven months prior, her sweating had decreased by 99.9%!
You can tell by watching the video, that receiving Botox injections in the underarm is a completely painless process. One might think that due to the sensitivity of that area, screaming in pain would be a natural reaction during the treatment. Not so. In fact, as Jennifer receives the injections, she calmly asks Dr. Hall some questions.
Interesting ones, at that. She wonders whether or not she would be able shave, wax or get laser hair removal treatments done to her underarms, considering that they are experiencing the Botox treatment. Dr. Hall responds by saying that he recommends waiting at least 24 hours that's it!
Essentially, the Botox treatments freeze the sweat glands, explains the doctor. This, of course, is a key reason why the injections work so well in treating Hyperhidrosis. Needless to say, the condition is both an embarrassing and even disabling one, as it prevents those who suffer from it, the opportunity to lead normal lives.
Especially with the summer season upon us, Hyperhidrosis is cause for some people to stay inside and avoid the warm weather. Hope is not lost, of course, Botox can make excessive sweating a thing of the past. Be sure to consult a licensed physician or skin care specialist to learn more about how Botox can help you.
