subject: How Important Holy Quran Is In Helping People Better Understand Islam [print this page]

Today, we see and hear about Islam more than ever. More often than not, we come across people who are madly in love with Islam or people who literally despise it. Among those who despise it; majority comprises of two groups. One group of people takes anti-Islam stance under the influence of popular media without any relevant and meaningful research of any kind. The other group comprises of people who simply find it impossible to accommodate beliefs and activities that certain people come up with in the name of Islam, while Islam has nothing to do with their beliefs and actions in reality.

This is very important segregation to make. People doing wrong things in the name of Islam does not make Islam really responsible for them; instead the best way to find what Islam truly preaches is to consult the sources that are considered the most sacred, authentic, and trustworthy for all sort of information associated to Islam, i.e. Allahs last Apostle Muhammad (PBUH) and last Scripture revealed onto him to assist people in taking right direction, the Quran.

Islam is quite different from all other religions prior to it. The very first thing about Islam is that unlike majority of other religions, it is not named after a person or a tribe. Example of first case comprise of religions like Christianity, where it is named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism is named after Gutama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism in the name of Karl Marx. Similarly, Islam is above tribal associations, just as in case of Judaism, which is associated with the tribe of Judah. Another analogy in this case could be of Hinduism associate with Hindus.

Islam, on the contrary, is a religion associated with none other than the mightiest of all beings, i.e. Allah Almighty. The simplest interpretation of Islam is to submission to Allah Almighty and none other. This fact is mentioned quite clearly and eloquently in various places all across Holy Quran and those who still do not heed to what the mightiest Allah tells them, do so for their own plight and misery. There are some people who either mistakenly or purposely refer Islam as Muhammadenism and its followers as Muhammadins, which is totally wrong.

Even in the times of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) there were people who claimed Islam and Quran to be authored by Muhammad (PBUH), which is totally a wrong perception. Lets see what Allah Almighty says about it, addressing Muhammad (PBUH):

Aal-e-Imran [3:20] So if they dispute with thee say: "I have submitted my whole self to Allah and so have those who follow me." And say to the People of the Book and to those who are unlearned: "Do ye (also) submit yourselves?" if they do, they are in right guidance, but if they turn back, thy duty is to convey the Message; and in Allah's sight are (all) His servants.

So, this is how clear Quran is on this issue, and the best way to clarify any such doubts is to consult Holy Quran than consulting any other authority. In fact, learning Quran in present times has become quite convenient and one can do it by means of internet. Today, anyone with internet access can Learn Quran Online to satisfy their queries regarding Islam.

As mentioned earlier, there are not just one or two examples in this regard; there are many of them that should help clarify anyones questions and concerns about origins and teachings of Islam. We should conclude our discussion with the suggestion to people to consult Quran and contemplate on verses like the one mentioned below to address their queries about Islam:

Aal-e-Imran [3:19] the Religion before Allah is Islam (submission to His will): nor did the People of the Book dissent therefrom except through envy of each other, after knowledge had come to them. But if any deny the Signs of Allah, Allah is swift in calling to account.
