As I said earlier that the PMI routinely conducts the audits of the applicants to ensure the integrity of the applicant. This audit process is completely random and no one can predict that which candidate is going to be selected for an audit. Moreover, number or percentage of candidates selected for an audit is also not revealed by the PMI. However, It is a general belief that about 5 to 10% candidates are selected for an audit by the PMI.
Therefore, it would be best for you, if you prepare yourself to deal with the audit process in advance so that if you are selected for an audit, you can smoothly complete it.
Now, I am going to list few points which you should follow to smoothen your audit process, if selected.

You have 90 days to submit all documents in sealed envelope to PMI by post, once you are selected for an audit. After receiving your courier, PMI will take one week to review your document and take decision on it.
