What is broadband internet connection? Why is it called a broadband connection and not just a normal internet connection? The term broadband means that it contains a broad range of technologies. This helps in providing a higher access to data rate when it comes to internet connection. The internet connection is supported by wires or fiber optic cables which supports the speed of the internet connection. You can have a single connection or a multiple internet connection depending on the number of connections you have at home or office. There are different types of broadband connections in which bandwidths differ from one type to the other.

There is a multilink dial-up connection which is available with internet providers. It provides an increased bandwidth; it is more than the normal broadband connection that you get. The increased bandwidth is provided by combining two or more dial up connection together and giving them as a single data channel. But it requires additional support, the modems, phone lines, dial-up that are required is more than two. The multi-link dial-up also requires an Internet Service Provider that support multi-link dialup. The charges for the line and the data are also doubled. There are a few providers of broadband connection who made special modems that supported the multi-link dial-up efficiently.

Another type of broadband is Integrated Services Digital Network, popularly known as the ISDN connection which was popular before modems and cable technologies came in to place. It could be said that it is one of the oldest Internet access methods. It is a switched telephone service cable that transports voice and digital data. It is not a very popular connection in North America, but is popular in the Europe. The Integrated Service Digital Connection can be used for video conferencing, voice and data application for broadband. It was in popular usage before the DSL and cable modem based technologies came in to use.

The access technologies commonly use a device called modem. It helps in converting a digital data in to analogue which helps in the transmission of networks like telephone and cable. They have something called the Local Area Network that provides access to internet over a limited area like an office, school, home, etc. there are wired and wireless Local Area Networks available. There is another type of network called the Wide Area Network. The geographic area that this covers is better than the Local Area Network. The most commonly used type of network by many is the Local Area Network.

The dial up connection is supported by a modem. The modem helps in converting a digital signal in to an analogue signal. But the dial- up connection is one of the oldest modes of connecting to the internet. The recent internet connections are more advanced than the dial-up connections. They have wireless modes like wi-fi and there are also satellite connections. The internet speed has become unbelievably fats with the support of these connections. Now internet can be accessed from anywhere and from any place.

Browsing had gone to a completely different level with these types of internet connections. Now you access anywhere and at anytime. Browsing has become a lot quicker. The streaming of videos happens smoothly without the video getting stuck midway. The loading of pages does not take forever as it used to do before. Downloading and uploading of files happen a lot quicker and the chances of you losing the internet connection midway are slowly becoming impossibility. The browsing experience has become fun for a lot of people with high speed internet connection that they are subscribing though their providers!
