You may have seen headlines about Twitters new logo, but thats not the only reason theyre making the news. A recent study in the UK by branded3 proves that Twitter can boost a websites Google Ranking. A high Google ranking means more people will find you when they need you, which translates to more sales for your company.

The study found a strong correlation between the amount of tweets about a URL, and its Google ranking. You can read about the entire study here, but the key findings were:

URLs receive a significant boost when shared on Twitter

Average Google ranking improves considerably after 5,000 tweets

URLs with more than 7,500 tweets almost always rank inside the top five results

What does this mean for your company? Simple. Get people to tweet about you. OK, maybe its not so simple. Getting people to tweet your website URL will take time, planning and a lot of coordination. But Agency Entourage is here to help you out.

Here are three steps (or branches) to tweet your way up the Google search page.

1) Gather the flock.

Who has influence over your social media and website? Most likely it is the web development team, upper management and some combination of the public relations, advertising or marketing departments. Youll need to get everyone on the same page and working together to create a successful strategy.

2) Fly in V formation.

Youll need to design a strategy. Make a list of target URLs and keywords youre going to promote. This list will be what is incorporated into the messages you push out through social media. Then USE them, everywhere. Promote your Twitter account on your website, Facebook, around the office, in articles and news releases, and in all company publications. People wont tweet at you if they cant find you!

3) Tweet like a bird.

Develop your Twitter following by interacting with followers, following relevant Twitter accounts and staying current with hashtags, tweets and accounts that interest your followers. Build relationships by retweeting and replying to followers. The more people see that youre engaging with the audience, the more theyll engage with you.
