Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is one of the most beautiful cities in Central Europe. Divided into distinct regions, namely Buda and Pest, by the Danube, the city offers amazing architecture, such as baroque, art nouveau, eclectic and neoclassical. Of course, the other sights of the city are also truly amazing, with many areas having pedestrian zones that makes it perfect to stroll around and indulge in some shopping.

Reaching the city from any corner of the world is never a problem. There are several flights to Budapest and major airlines, which connect the city to different parts of the world. You can also get cheap plane tickets on several low cost airlines that fly into the city's international airport from the USA. However, if you book your tickets in advance, you can easily get cheap tickets to Budapest.

The city is a year round tourist destination, with most tourists coming in on cheap airline deals during the summer months, when the popular Margit Island Festival and the Formula I race are held. June is the month for festivals in the city and is also the month when maximum tourists visit. So getting cheap flights to Budapest may not be possible. However, with its temperate continental climate, the city is one the best all-year destination.

Accommodation in the city is never a problem. Throughout the city you will find standard hotels, self-catering apartments, hostels, spa hotels and high-end hotels. Depending on your budget, you can select a hotel. However, if you are visiting the city just for the weekend, it is best to opt for standard hotels. Regardless of the accommodation, you should visit the Fisherman's Bastion in the Castle District. This district is in Buda and offers a fantastic view of the Danube. Here you will also find the national gallery displaying paintings from all over the country.

You can also visit the well-maintained city zoo. The highlight of the zoo is the nocturnal animal area. This area is definitely not for faint-hearted! The zoo is renowned for having large number of animal species on display. For people who may never get to see certain exotic animals; this is the perfect place to spend an entire day.

The city has several museums scattered around, right from a museum dedicated to music, a military museum to a historical museum. Visits to these museums can be educational as well as fun.

Of course, the city has outstanding public transportation system. There are buses, trolleys and metro that connects different parts of the city. Furthermore, public transportation runs until wee hours of the morning, so you will always reach your accommodation safe and sound.

Make sure to visit some authentic Hungarian restaurants to enjoy the local cuisine, which is delicious and mouthwatering. Hungarian goulash, fish stew, csrike paprikas and porkolt are some of the dishes that are must-eat while holidaying in the city. The best restaurants are the ones frequented by locals, as you will get authentic dishes. Also, Hungarian desserts are worth trying if you are not worried about your waistline!
