subject: How Important Are Vacations? [print this page] Hearing the word vacation is like music to the ears of any working person. Keeping in mind how the life of most working people is quite monotonous and the most traveled route is the one from home to office and back, a vacation guarantees to get one away from this repetitive life for a brief period of time. It makes a person breathe a huge sigh of relief and realize that there is life outside of work and that there are several things to do apart from going to the office everyday. However, work is one of the most important things in a persons life and should always be a top priority as every person needs to earn a salary in order to survive, but this doesnt mean we dont deserve a vacation every once in a while.
A vacation requires a fair amount of planning and one mustnt set of without planning an itinerary, complete with things you will carry, places you are going to see, and of course the way youre going to get around from place to place. The first thing you must figure out is the mode of transport you are going to be taking to reach your destination as different people have different preferences. Some people always rather take the flight as its the most convenient and wastes the least amount of time. Others like traveling by train, as through the course of stopping at every station till you reach your destination gives you a lot more insight on the place you are going to be visiting. Then come the select handful of people who prefer driving down to their destination in the form of a road trip. Very few people like taking road trips today, as our lives are very time bound. However, the experience a road trip makes for compares to none other, as a road trip is like a mini vacation before you reach your actual destination. The experiences and memories you come across along the way make for memories that last a lifetime.
I personally enjoy taking road trips if I have the option. The last road trip I made was with another friend about two months ago. The two of us drove down to Goa from our homes in Bangalore. There are two routes one could take to reach Goa from Bangalore, one via Belgaum and the other via Shimoga. However I would advise everyone to always take the Belgaum route as Shimoga is very prone to landslides and one wouldnt want to be stuck in one of those situations. We drove down in my swift dzire and she handled like a dream. I was very impressed with her performance and couldnt wait to make my next road trip in the near future.
