The live results that were announced on the Thursday night were broadcasted on the channel of Fox. This show marked the determination of the top 6 finalists of the eleventh season of the show.

Colton, a 20 year old candidate of the contest coming from the place of Murfreesboro, TN, went on to become the seventh finalist who was eliminated and sent home. The reason of his elimination was the lesser number of votes by the home viewers as per the performance on the Wednesday night. It was this show which had featured the top seven finalists. Each of the finalists had performed two songs. The first song being the number one blockbuster of the year of 2000 to that of present while the other was the soul song from somewhere back in the day.

Colton had a talk with the Reality TV World about his experience in the American Idol. This conversation took place over a conference call with the reporters on the day of Friday. There were discussions about what all actually went through his mind at the time when the results were about to be announced. The level of anxiety and nervousness that would have gripped him at that very moment was all being probed by the reporters. Colton was also asked, what he felt about his chances of elimination in the show. To all the questions that were put up to him he replied that he was having a notion that he would somehow be landing in the bottom three. Therefore when the results went on air it actually did not come as a shock to him. He does feel weird now as he so much wishes his elimination to have been just a bad dream. But for him things certainly don"t seem to cease there. He is looking forward to what all may come up next.

The judges had also not liked the performance of Dixon. They were not quite enthusiastic about the next song of Colton Dixon. The second song that was sung by Dixon was a stripped down version of piano of the Earth Wind and Fire hit "September". This combination brought the singer who had recently gained popularity to the bottom three. It was the first time that he came to the bottom three lists once the counting of the votes coming from the public began. Dixon said that he is all hopeful of forging a career singing Christian music and thereafter spread his faith. He continued that he is extremely thankful to the platform that he received via the American Idol. He explained that this platform gave him the ability of reaching to the numerous people in the market of Christian music. The exit of Dixon leaves behind six contestants in the competition of American Idol. All of them are aiming at the title of "American Idol" and a contract of recording. In the coming week they would be performing songs from the Queen songbook. They would be singing a medley with the original band members namely Brian May and Roger Taylor.
