subject: Uninstall Windows Media Player - How to Uninstall Windows Media Player Quickly and Easily [print this page]

Are you having trouble trying to uninstall Windows Media Player? Windows Media Player can sometimes be difficult to uninstall from your computer. I'll show you 2 ways that you can uninstall Windows Media Player quickly and easily.

1. Add/Remove Programs - (MOST DIFFICULT)

Go to your Windows Start Button and find the button that will take you to your control panel. Newer versions of Windows give you the option to choose "Control Panel" right from the menu but older versions of Windows require you to go into the programs section to find the control panel. If you have trouble finding it you can always go to Windows Explorer and search for control panel.

Once you have reached the Control Panel you will want to double-click on the Add/Remove Programs Icon. This will bring up a list of all the programs and software that have been installed on your computer. Scroll down until you see Windows Media Player and click on it. You will then be given the option to uninstall Windows Media Player. Click on this option and follow the prompts. Once you have done this Windows Media player should have been uninstalled from your computer.

Some people have run into problems when uninstalling Windows Media Player from their computer. This problem is usually that Windows Media Player has not been completely uninstalled from the computer or there may be traces of the program left in the computer. This can potentially cause problems.

If you would like to uninstall Windows Media Player completely then I recommend the second option.

2. Download Software Specifically Designed to Uninstall - (EASIEST)

This is by far the best and easiest option you have for uninstalling Windows Media Player or any other software program from your computer. Uninstall software makes it a piece of cake to remove any unwanted or corrupted application on your PC including Windows Media Player. The software will forcibly remove corrupted programs that cannot be uninstalled from Windows Add/ Remove Programs. The standard Add/Remove Programs can not always completely uninstall all applications and broken registry keys. Unlike Add/Remove Programs, a program like Perfect Uninstaller will not only uninstall Windows Media Player, but also wipe out the registry files that Windows Media Player has left behind. It will protect your PC from these corrupted registry errors, improving your PC performance and speed!
