subject: Simple Ways To Ease Plantar Fasciitis [print this page]

The medical term plantar fasciitis seems to be a very complicated medical condition but it is not. This is a condition that involves the plantar fascia in the foot. When this part has inflammation and pain, then this is a case of plantar fasciitis. This condition is one of the most common reasons why theres pain in the heel area of the foot.

Though this is not a complicated case, plantar fasciitis can be really painful. Usually, it is at its worst when getting up in the morning or when a person is seated for a long period of time. If a person has been standing for an extended period of time, he may also suffer from plantar fasciitis.

The good news is there are several ways to help ease or even prevent plantar fasciitis including:

Taking Care of Your Feet

Sometimes, people tend to buy shoes that are poor in quality just because they are cheaper. The quality of shoe that a person wears can make an impact on their feet. A good quality shoe has enough cushion can protect a wearers heels.

Another way to take care of your feet is to place a rubber mat under your feet if your work entails standing for long periods. The rubber mat can help in cushioning your feet thus reducing the stress to your feet, heel and ankle.

Exercising your Feet

If you are not yet seeing a chiropractor or podiatrist to treat your problem and you are looking for a few home remedies, the best place to start looking is the internet. There you will be able to find exercises specifically designed to help ease the pain associated with plantar fasciitis. These exercises help stretch the Achilles tendon, as well as the calf muscles and of course, the plantar fascia, too.

It is best to do the exercise regularly to prevent the inflammation. A lot of people who suffer the condition say that doing the exercise regularly lessen the attack.

Watching Your Weight

Theres an ideal weight for a specific height. When a persons weight doesnt match his height, there is an added strain to the feet thus causing plantar fasciitis. It is beneficial for people to maintain the ideal weight appropriate to their height and structure.

Not Walking Around Bare-foot

After a long day wearing shoes, it is really nice to just kick them off and walk around the house bare-foot. However, this is not good for people suffering from plantar fasciitis because the lack of support for the arch of their feet can worsen the problem. It is better to wear supportive footwear once a person has taken off his shoes at home.

Also, remember that slippers do give support, too. Its okay to wear flip-flops or walk bare-footed around the house for short period of times but make it a habit to wear something that will give the feet support in order to prevent plantar fasciitis.
