subject: How To Use The New Chrome Remote Desktop Beta [print this page]

Google has unveiled its new Chrome remote desktop BETA application which is supposed to serve as a browser based Remote Desktop Software. Although extremely easy to set up and use, this small how to will show you the step by step process.

1. Get Chrome! The first and of course the basic thing in order to use Googles remote access app is to have the Google chrome web browser installed on your system.

2. Go to the web store: After you have Google chrome on your system, the next step is to head to the Google web store and download the app. Since the app is in beta stage, it is available for free as of now.

3. Installation and Settings: After downloading the Chrome remote desktop BETA, the next thing to do is of course install the app. Installation is simple and straightforward. Make sure you change the settings and allow the app to access all your files and data via your browser, if you wish to experience full functionality.

4. Launch it! After you have configured the app according to your needs the next step is quite simple. Head over to the mini extension button for the app next to the tabs windows and click it. Then click "Share this computer" button doing so will create a unique 12-digit access code that can be used to access your computer via other browsers.

Once the chrome set up is configured, the next stage is to of course share your code with whoever you wish to provide access to or get the code of other chrome users that you wish to access. The browser does provide complete control of the mouse and ability to launch and shut programs completely thus making it quite an easy tool for lite remote users and the IT guys to provide you better care for your PC!

Google has clearly emphasized on the BETA part of the title, stating that users should not expect the same functionality and features as offered by slender and powerful remote desktop software that are available on the market, in fact if you are a serious remote user then please do consider getting a software that can perform heavy duty works as the chrome browser app is intended for 'IT Helpdesk' or simple remote access purposes only. There is always a possibility that Google will launch a more functional and powerful product in the coming year, however for now this is only speculation. As this is the first time Google has created a remote desktop tool, it is presently not known as to whether they intend to continue development further after the Beta phase of the product has passed.
