subject: Omega 3 And How It Helps Promote Healthy Cell Membranes [print this page]

Our body is made up of a number of cellsOur body is made up of a number of cells. Every cell is protected by a membrane comprising mainly of fatty acids. These cell membranes help to regulate the correct level of nutrients required for each cell. It permits the nutrients to seep in while taking out what we don't need. The garbage.

For our bodies to maintain cells that work properly, we have to be sure that the cells' outer covering, the membrane, stays in sound health and fluid. If a cell is devoid of a healthy membrane around it, then it won't be able to preserve the fluids and necessary nutrients it requires to remain healthy. The cells also can communicate with each other. In the absence of proper nutrients, this will not happen. It is possible that when cells are unable to to communicate between each other, it could result in the development of cancerous tumors.

The membranes that surround the cells consist of mainly fat. What a cell is made up of depends mainly on what we consume. If we eat lard, or fats that are hard when standing at room temperature such as bacon grease, then it is most likely that the outer membrane of our cells could get hardened and not allow the exchange of fluids as needed. Saturated fats are bad fats. They increase the levels of cholesterol. Fats that are liquid at room temperature are much better for you. Omega 3 fats are liquid fats. Canola oil is an example of an omega 3 fat. If you consume a diet comprising more of the omega 3 fats, the liquid type, then your cells are more likely to be fluid.

More and more studies being completed on omega 3 are showing that adding omega 3 to your diet, can aid in preventing cancer. It has been proven that it can prevent the development of breast cancer. As I said above, that the cell contains mainly on what you consume. You need to get this essential fatty acid, omega 3 into your cells to help protect you. Since every type of fatty acid you consume ends up in your cells, you need to be certain you are getting an adequate ratio of the omega 3 and omega 6 to keep your cells healthy which in return keep you healthy.

Along with helping prevent breast cancer, keeping your cells healthy can keep your blood from forming clots causing you to suffer from a stroke or heart attack. Healthy cells can help keep blood pressure at a good reading, prevent allergies, swelling of arthritis, improve your memory, the working of the kidneys, and many other health issues.

It's surprising that eating one simple type of food can provide you with such a priceless life saving ingredient. Keep you healthier and possibly help you live longer. Even if you don't change your other eating habits, but start taking an omega 3 supplement, it will still be quite beneficial.

Take control of your life. Do something right today to ensure that you live a longer healthier life. Add some omega 3 to your diet.
