subject: What Exactly Is The Reason For Stress In Our Lives - Is Stress Affecting You? [print this page]

What can you do about stress to help relieve it? First let's understand what causes it. Think about the ancient caveman facing life, immediate threats were: lions, tigers, elephants, and other big scary animals. The body contains a mechanism to help us fight back, or run. It's called Fight, or Flight response and it's still with us... yikes - it's still here.

Just one tiny chemical (cortison) can trigger your body into action, either requiring that you fight something, or run for the hills! That feeling is not always well liked, as it is the direct result of stress in your life on a daily basis.

What are you going to do? Your body is still responding to stress, even though there is none. You have to find a way out of it, but it's still going to be with you, day and night. Stress, it never leaves us, and is here because of our ancestors. Yes, we've inherited the syndrome from them.

Here are some typical reactions to 'fight or flight': 1.) your digestive system slows way down, 2.) your heart rate speeds up, 3.) your blood pressure may rise, your blood may clot faster than before. Your breaths are faster, quicker and your nostrils may enlarge to help you take in more oxygen. 3.) your liver may convert more sugars, 4.) the blood in your body forces you to tighten up, 5.) your pupils (in your eye) may dilate (grow larger).

Since there will never be a solution, we must accept what has been passed down to us. Stress will always be here. Live your life to it's fullest and try to forget little things - it wlil be so much easier that's for sure. Over time you may find that wiorrying only made matters worse, in the long run.
