Optimmune is a medication that is used in the treatment of dogs. Optimmune medication is used for treating the chronic idiopathic keratoconjunctivities sicca and chronic superficial keratitis in dogs. This medication helps in reducing the chronic conjunctive and corneal inflammation.
How should I give this medication to my dog?
Optimmune medication should be given to the dogs after every 12 hours. This medication can be applied directly to the cornea of the eye or in to the conjunctival sac. In order to remove the debris for the eye, a non- irritating solution should be used before applying optimmune medication.
What are the possible side effects of using this drug?
This medication may cause primarily ocular and periocular inflammation. There is a chance that this medication may not entirely control the keratoconjunctivities. This medication may also cause epiphora and slight uneasiness in the eyes. This medication may also increase the risk of periocular or palpebral and alopecia disorder. Optimmune Ointment may also cause allergic reactions such as hives, breathlessness, swelling, lips, tongue, and throat. It may make the mouth go dry, induce drowsiness and light headedness. The dog may feel weak, irritable and experience muscle pain. As it makes the skin more sensitive, the dog easily gets bruised, blisters and peeling of skin rash.
What precautions do I need to follow while using Optimmune on my pet?
Optimmune for dogs medication should be carefully monitored if there is a symptom of ocular irritation and if it continuously cause disturbance even applying for 7 days than the dogs should be taken to the veterinary doctor to check up as there might be a need to suspend the using of this medication. Do not give this medication if the dog is allergic to this medication and the dogs should be taken to the veterinary doctor to see whether or not they are allergic to this medication or its components.
